Hello everyone!
I hope you are all having a great start to the week. Get excited because ISACO is back! The first meeting of the semester is THIS Wednesday, January 27th, and will be at 7pm in the Asian Culture Room (room 4.224) in the Texas Union Buildling. We will be discussing this semesters events including: lectures, parties, camping trip, elections, Eid Noruz, and more! After the meeting (~8pm) we will be heading downstairs to the Union Underground to go bowling and/or play some pool!

Middle Eastern Studies is hosting a movie screening on Saturday Jan 30th, at 2:00 PM at AVAYA Auditorium (ACES 2.306, corner of 24th and Speedway) for the movie “Mehman-e Maman”. Also, there will be a Q/A session with one of the Iranian prominent actors, Mr. Parsa Pirouzfar, who is currently visiting U.S. from Iran. I will be in attendance and hope you guys can make it!

“News that a long-unseen nephew is about to pay a courtesy visit with his new bride sends histrionics-inclined Mrs. Effat (veteran actress Golab Adineh) a-kvetching. Convinced shame will rain down on their house if they don’t offer a welcoming spread well beyond their means, she first harries beleaguered, cinema-obsessed hubby (Hassan Poorshirazi), as well as their university student daughter Bahareh and extremely rambunctious young son Amir. Soon her sense of emergency envelopes nearly everyone in their immediate community of the struggling and disenfranchised, including the daft med-school student and aspiring pharmacist whom daughter Bahareh is sweet on; well-born druggie Yuseef (Parsa Piroozfar) and his pregnant wife; a crazy elderly lady obsessed with her pet chickens, and so on.” (Variety).

Hey guys! Just in case you missed the meeting today, we made some announcements about banquet this Friday:
- Banquet will still be at Shandeez Grill at 7pm
- We will be giving out awards to members
- We will also have the DVDs of Performing Arts Show for sale at banquet for $5 each
- All paid members have been given credit for each event they have attended and we will be drawing a name for a winner of the gift card for this semester!
- Due to the great profits we made from Performing Arts Show, ISACO will be covering part of the costs for banquets for paid members- all ISACO paid members will only have to pay $10 for banquet, while nonmembers will still have to pay $15.
If you have any questions/ need a ride to banquet, please let me or any of the other officers know asap. Have a great week, good luck on your last exams, and see you Friday!

Hi everyone!
I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving and are prepared for your last midterms this week before your finals.
This is a reminder that we have a meeting this Wednesday, Dec 2 at 7pm in the Pearce room, room 2.404 in the Union building (same place the 1st meeting was held, near the convenience store). We will be discussing details about the banquet on Friday Dec 4, and summarizing the results of Performing Arts Show.
